Stolen.

Stolen during the evening of the 10th ult., from Leithfield, a bay mare, 5 years old, branded like on near shoulder, white star on forehead, the property of James Pokelly, of Leithfield.

About the end of December, 1870, was stolen from the Creek Station, Rangitata, the property of William Bush, a dark bay gelding, very quiet, aged, 14f hands high, small star on forehead, branded T 0 on near shoulder, with a small round lump close to frog on near hind foot, the effect of staking.

During the passage of the s. s. Gothenburg from Dunedin to Wellington, a case the property of Wm. Brass, Christchurch, was broken open, and the following articles, all identifiable, abstracted : —Three drab clipper corsets, 10 yards drab silk velvet, 6 shepherd’s plaid shawls.

Stolen, on the 14th ult., from the Ulster boarding-house, Christchurch, a leather pocket book, containing thirty-six sovereigns, and three one pound notes, the property of Joseph Florance. An Italian named Frank Trovelier is suspected, described as 32 years of age, sft. 4in. in height, stout build, fresh complexion, black hair, whiskers and moustache ; dresses in a brown cloth suit, a black cap with French peak. The suspected man, who is still in Christchurch, was searched but without success.

During the evening of the 14th ult., the dwelling-house of Elizabeth Mortimer, Ferry Road, was burglariously entered during the absence of the owner, and the following articles stolen : —An English silver lever watch, open face, white dial, steel hands, No. 5778, the letters W C scratched on the back ; a colonial gold ring, set with six diamonds and four opals, one of the opals missing—both identifiable.

Stolen from the person of Henry Eagle, of Smithfield, near Temuka, while lying asleep during the night of the Ist ult., in the Royal Hotel, Temuka, two £lO notes of the Union Bank of Australia issue. Eagle had the money on his person when he went to sleep, after drinking heavily, and on waking in the morning, found that it had been stolen. John Curtis, suspected, description :—An Englishman, 25 years of age, sft. 6 or 7in. in height, fair hair and complexion, no whisker, beard, or moustache. Curtis resides in Temuka.

Stolen during the evening of the 7th ult., at Akaroa, from the person of Richard Berry, a silver lever hunting watch, the letters JB conjoined, scratched on the outside case. Berry was drinking with a number of strangers in an hotel when he discovered his loss. The watch is valued at £7. Police Gazette. —Vol. IX., No. 5.

Stolen from the dwelling of Samuel Elstab, of Burnham, during the afternoon of the 15th ult., a five chambered revolver, electroplated mounting, discolored, curved stock made of dark-colored wood; 1 clasp knife, steel spring on the back of handle; 1 pair old boots ; and 1 pair socks, marked S E in red worsted. Some travellers suspected.

Stolen from the dwelling of F. H. M. AValker, Esq., Leithfield, sometime in February or March last, three or four white siugle blankets, and one large double blanket with red selvedge all round —valued at £6. Some of the workmen at Mr. Walker’s Flax Mills are suspected. A reward of £5 is offered for recovery of the goods, and conviction of the offender.
