Stolen, between 5.20 and 5.30 p.m. on the Bth ult. from tbe dye-works of Erederick Hawkins, Tancredstreet, Hokitika, two feathers for ladies hats, one scarlet and one white, each about six inches long ; value, 20s. A woman named Mrs. Williams, in company with two others, whose names or descriptions are not known, called at the dye-works for some feathers she had left to be dyed. A few minutes after they left the feathers in question were missed. Mrs. Williams is about 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, about thirty years of age ; brown hair, regular features, slightly pockmarked. Still in Hokitika.

Stolen, during the night of the 14th ult. from a paddock on the North Road, near Papanui, three bags of grass seed, the property of John Abbott. Value £9.

Stolen, between 7 and 8 o’clock a.m. of the 11th ult. from the shop of G. S. Smith, chemist, Highstreet, Christchurch, one bottle of Rimmel s toilet vinegar, one bottle of T. and H. Smith’s essence of coffee, and one bottle of benzine. No one in particular suspected.

Stolen, between 4 p.m. of the sth and 10 a.m. of the 7th ult. from outside the door of Stubb’s and King s auction-rooms, Timaru, the following articles, the property of William Glover Allen, Timaru: one horse-rug, yellow with brown stripes; one

opossum skin rug, brown colour; and one shot-pouch and belt, top of pouch missing.

Stolen, between the 14th and 22nd ult. from the dray of one Daniel Wheelan, while travelling between the Arahura river, West Canterbury, and ChristChristchurch, two light tweed coats, one kght tweed vest, one white holland coat, and 12 linen collars ; the property of John Parker. Two men named John Bailey, alias Jack the cook, and Samuel Callighan, both well-known theives, who were at the Arahura while Wheellan was camped there, are suspected. Bailey is about 30 years of age, 6 feet high; dark complexion, black' hair and whiskers ; dressed m black coat and vest, cord trousers, and black Yankee hat. Callaghan is about 22 years old, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build ; red face, long nose, light hair ; dressed in tweed coat, cord trousers, and light wideawake hat. Supposed to have gone in the direction of Hokitika.

Stolen, between 9 and 11 p.m. of the lltli ult. from off a horse while standing in a stable at an old pigskin saddle, flaps and pads in one piece German silver stirrups, one a little bent, one stmupleather broken off from the buckle, new side plates and new lining, value £3; the property of John Hebden, Kaiapoi.

On the morning of the 12th ult. the rigging of the schooner “ Jane Ann ” lying at Hokitika wharf was wilfully cut nearly through: a man named Wi iam Thomas, a seaman on board the “ William and J u instates that he saw a man on board the schooner wi a large knife in his hand, that he went to have a look at him but the man ran away; but from the character of Thomas, his contradictory statement and expressions he has made use of, he is suspected of doing the injury: he is about 5 feet 7 inches high, 36 years old ; dark complexion, dark brown hair, no whiskers, tuft on chin ; medium build. Well known in Hokitika and Dunedin.

Stolen, between 1 and 8 a.m. of the 6th ult. from a dwelling in Tancred street, Hokitika, four £5 Bank of New Zealand notes, one of the notes identifiable by some writing on the back, and three half-sovereigns; the property of Henry E. Yates. A man named William Cuming, who lives in the same house, is suspected, from a half-sovereign being found under his bed, which he could not account for, and his behaviour afterwards. He is about 36 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build ; sandy hair and whiskers; a printer by trade. Still in Hokitika.

Stolen, between 1 and 7 a.m of the 7th ult from the dwelling of Charles Pierson, printer, Tancred-street, Hokitika, six £1 notes and about 50s. in silver. Cumming, described above, is also suspected for this offence.

Stolen, between 8 and 12 p.m. of the 24th ult. from the person of Johnstone Burn, while in a state of intoxication, the sum of £3l, consisting of three £5 notes, the remainder £1 notes ; all of the Union Bank of Australia. A man known by the name o f Geordie Mick,” who had been in his company, is suspected: he is an Englishman, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, stout build; dark moustache, tuft on chin, turning grey, clean shaved on face; dressed in black and white Crimean shirt, mole3kin trousers, and black billycock hat. Still in Greymouth.

Stolen, between 11 p.m. of the 29th and 10 a.m. of the 31st ult. from a horse that had been left tied to a gate on the Eerry-road, a second-hand pigskin saddle, tree broken, a small piece torn out of the back part of the seat; two girths, one white the other grey with white thread down the centre; plain silverplated stirrups and snaffle bridle, branded G. Holmes : the property of Geo. Holmes, Esq., Heathcote Valley.
