Apprehensions.

James Marshall and Thomas McGitrick, arrested by Constable Smyth, Christchurch Police, charged with fighting in the public street, have been fined, the former 10s., and the latter 20s.

George Plarris, alias Walter Johnson, arrested by Constable Quin, Lyttelton Police, charged on warrant with escaping from legal custody, has been remanded to Hokitika,

Bobert Mien Swanston, arrested on warrant by Sergeant-Major Pardy, Christchurch Police, charged with embezzlement, has been committed for trial.

John Bose Branbon, arrested on warrant by Sergeant Davis, Bangiora Police, charged with using threatening language, has been bound over in his own recognizance of £2OO to keep the peace for twelve months.

John Einn alias Hart, arrested by Constable Feast, Christchurch Police, charged with horse stealing, has been committed for trial.

Thomas Hughes, arrested by Sergeant Bamsay, Arowhenua Police, charged with obtaining money by means of a valueless cheque, has been discharged.

William Cole, arrested by Constable Bigbye, Boss Police, for larceny of wearing apparel, value £5, has been discharged.

Neb Brennan, arrested by Constable Cashion, Boss Police, for larceny, has been remanded to Hokitika for medical treatment.

John Plall, arrested by Sergeant M'Ennis, Okarita Police, for assaulting one Jane Smith, has been fined 40s.

Amos Downes, arrested by Constable McKenna, Okarita Police, on charge of assaulting Master of vessel “ Crest of the Wave,” being a seaman thereon, has been sentenced to twelve weeks’ imprisonment.

Bobert IPankin and Bichaeb Quinn, arrested by Constable Bissett, Stafford Town Police, for larceny, the former has been discharged, and the latter sentenced to one month’s imprisonment with hard labour.

James Brown, arrested by Constable McGill, Waimea Police, for stealing in a dwelling, has been committed for trial by the Bench at Hokitika.

James McKenna, arrested by Sergeant Beatty, Hokitika, Police, charged with larceny from a dwelling and assaulting and resisting the police in the execution of their duty, has been sentenced to four months imprisonment for the first and fourteen days’ imprisonment for the latter oftence.

Margaret Anderson, arrested by Sergeant Beatty, Hokitika Police, charged with larceny from _ the person, has been sentenced to fourteen days imprisonment.

John Tompkins, arrested by Sergeant Dyer, Hokitika Police, charged with resisting the police in the execution of their duty, has been sentenced to pay a fine of £3, or to be imprisoned for seven days.

John S. Beach, arrested by Constable Brown, Hokitika Police, charged with obtaining money by false pretences by means of a valueless cheque, has been committed for trial.

Louis Bolland alias Bourcoad, arrested by Sergeant Slattery, Saltwater Creek Police, charged with uttering bank notes knowing them to be forged, has been remanded to G-reymouth and there committed for trial.

Edward G-reen, arrested by Constable Bigbye, Hokitika Police, charged on warrant with assault, has been sentenced to pay a fine of £5, or to be imprisoned for seven days.

G-eorge A. Harris alias Walter Johnson, on remand frßm Christchurch, charged on warrant with escaping from legal custody at Hokitika, has been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment by the Hokitika Bench.

Eobert Graham, arrested by Constable Taylor, Hokitika Police, charged with refusing to pay his passage-money from Okarita to Hokitika, per steamer “ Bruce,” has been ordered to pay £3 passage-money, and £1 to the owners, or to be imprisoned for four days.

William Bollings, arrested by Sergeant Byrne ; Hokitika Police, charged with lunacy, has been committed to the public Lunatic Asylum.

William Shortill, arrested by Constable Moynihan, Hokitika Police, charged with assaulting and resisting the Police in the execution of their duty, has been sentenced to pay a fine of £3, or to be imprisoned for seven days.

William Craine, arrested by Constable Moynihan, Hokitika Police, charged with lunacy, has been committed to the public Lunatic Asylum.

James Kessack, arrested by Constable Shirley, Hokitika Police, charged on warrant with larceny of a terrier dog, has been discharged.

William Smith, charged on the information of John B. Byley with lunacy, has been committed to the public Lunatic Asylum.
