The ehrppmg mterest is suffering severely, m consequence ot some thoughtless employers, through a mistaken spF j; or with the view of securing cheap labor, harboring those who desert from their ships. , ,1 The most stringent measures will be adopted by t Police and the Special Constables throughout the Province, to apprehend deserters and to prosecute to the fullest extent all persons harboring or giving them employment; as it is their duty when hiring labor, to ascertain that they are not at the same time infringing one of the most important laws framed tor the support and well-being of the leading interests ot the community at large.
