Progress : Wool-shed and shearers' quarters completed, 385 chains fencing, roading. Two ex-service-men settled March, 1950. Middlerigg, at Dunsandel, 523 acres. Acquired : August, 1946. Objective: Four dairy units for allotment spring, 1948 and 1949. Development Programme : 100 acres pasture, 80 chains fencing, three houses, four milking-sheds, three implement-sheds, three piggeries, renovations to existing house, four bores for water-supply. Objective : Two sheep and cropping units for immediate settlement. 112 acres to be added to lease of adjoining discharged serviceman settler. Development Programme : House to be renovated and boundary fence between sections to be erected. Progress : Ml. Two ex-servicemen settled July, 1949. Mount Paul, at Waiau, 19,401 acres. Acquired : March-June, 1947. Objective : Four sheep units and four sheep and cropping units allotment 1950 and 1951. Development Programme : 12 miles fencing, four houses, three wool-sheds, two shearers' quarters, two implement-sheds, renovations to existing buildings, 600 acres regrassing, 15 chains access (internal), If miles roading. Progress : Renovations completed, two houses, 500 acres regrassing, 777 chains fencing, roading and access completed. Five ex-servicemen with promises of unite. Newlands, at Ashburton, 369 acres. Acquired : July, 1946, and November, 1947. Objective: One irrigated unit, settlement date indefinite. Development Programme : 260 chains fencing, 180 acres to be bordered, dwelling and shearing-shed, sheep-yards, and shelter-belts. Progress : Buildings completed, 230 chains fencing, 135 acres bordered permanent pasture, 45 acres bordered and sown in lucerne and grass. Property being farmed by Department to obtain information on costs of irrigated farming. Newtons, at Geraldine, 623 acres. Acquired: March, 1950. Objective : Three irrigated sheep and cropping units—one to be settled autumn, 1950, and others 1952. Development Programme : 345 acres to be prepared for irrigation, two houses, two barn-implement sheds, renovations to house and wool-shed, 30 chains internal access, 435 chains fencing. Progress : 170 chains fencing, 85 acres bordered and sown down, buildings completed, 110 acres grassing. Two ex-servicemen with promises of units. Ritchies, at Geraldine, 487 acres. Acquired: September, 1948. Objective: One irrigated sheep and cropping unit for settlement 1950. Development Programme : 52 chains fencing, 80 acres bordering, house, culverts over head races. Progress : House under construction, 18 chains fencing, 78 acres bordered and sown grass and lucerne. One ex-serviceman on wages with promise of unit. Riverview, at Ealing, 546 acres. Acquired: August, 1946. Objective: One sheep and cropping unit for allotment August, 1948. Development Programme : 200 acres regrassing, 50 chains fencing, hay-shed. Progress : Regrassing completed, 20 chains of fencing completed, hay-shed erected. As irrigation water was not available, property was disposed of as dry-farm unit October, 1948.
