SUPPLEMENTARY ESTIMATES, 1941-42.

POLICE DEPARTMENT.

(a) To provide for necessary increases in strength of Force. (b) To provide crews of police launches at Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton—six at each port, thus providing two for each night shift, one for day duty, and one for relieving duty. The six to be paid £365 per annum without house allowances are the drivers of the launches. (c) To provide three launches referred to in (b) above. (d) To provide maintenance and running cost for launches vide (c). (e) To provide increase in motor-car allowances (due to increased petrol cost) payable to members of Police Force for use of their private cars on police duty. Additional to £15,000 on Main Estimates. (/) To provide additional telephone facilities at police-stations. Additional to £9,500 on Main Estimates.
