Sick and Funeral Funds. The contributions and entrance fees paid to Sick and Funeral Funds in 1932 amounted to £180,773. Divided by the mean number of members the average for 1932 was £1 14s. 10d., as against £1 15s. for 1931. The interest and rent received by the lodges and central bodies amounted to £164,841 in 1932, equal to £1 lis. 9d. per member, as against £1 13s. 7d. for 1931. The amount of sickness benefit paid was £148,855 in 1932, equal to £7 Bs. 6d. per member sick, and £1 Bs. Bd. per member, as against £6 19s. sd. and £1 Bs. Bd. respectively for 1931. Viewing the amount paid in relation to the weeks of sickness, the average benefit per week is found to be 12s. lOd. in 1932, as against 13s. 2d. for 1931. The funeral benefit paid amounted to £39,835 in 1932, equal to 7s. Bd. per member, as compared with 7s. 6d. for 1931. The total worth of the Sick and Funeral Funds of 912 lodges at the beginning of 1932 was £3,623,299, and at the end of the year £3,720,006. The balance of gain for the year was £96,707, or 18s. 7d. per member, in 1932, as compared with £126,690, or £1 3s. 10d., in 1931. Investment of Funds. The net income from investments credited to the Sick and Funeral Funds for 1932 amounted to £164,841, the average rate being £4 lis. lOd. per cent., as against £5 3s. Id. in 1931.

Trade-unions. One partial amendment of rules was registered : New Zealand Locomotive Engineers, Firemen, and Cleaners' Association. There were twenty-five unions on the register at the end of the yeai.
