Section 30 of Finance Act, 1932 (No. 2). —" Section fifty-five of the Finance Act, 1931 (No. 4), is hereby amended by omitting the words ' two years,' and substituting the words ' five years ' ; and by omitting the words ' nineteen hundred and thirty-one,' and substituting the words ' nineteen hundred and thirty-four Prosecution. During the year one branch was prosecuted under the provisions of the Act for failing to render annual returns, the defendant lodge being convicted and fined £5 and Court costs. Registration. There were registered during the past year eight new branches, as follows : M.U.1.0.0.F. : Waimauku Lodge and Kati Kati Lodge (Auckland District). 1.0.0. F. : Flower of Vincent ltebekah Lodge and Pride of Karori Lodge. U.A.O.D. : Pride of Te Puke Lodge and Ruawai Oak Lodge (Grand Lodge of the North Island of New Zealand) ; Ohai Lodge (Grand Lodge of Otago and Southland, New Zealand). H.A.C.B.S. : St. Patrick's Branch (Mapiu). There was also one isolated friendly society : Blackball District Coal Miners' Medical Club. The following registrations were cancelled by request: M.U.L0.0.F.: Denniston Lodge and Waimca Lodge (United Westland District). 1.0.0. F. : Oreti Lodge. A.O.F. : Court Robin Hood and Court Hikurangi (Auckland District). H.A.C.B.S. : St. Lawrence's Branch (Mataura). G.U.0.0.F. : Grafton United Branch. Working Men's Clubs: The North Island Brass Bands' Association of New Zealand and the South Island Bands' Association of New Zealand. The position of the orders in respect of registration is shown by the following summary as at the beginning and end of 1932.

Rules. The rules of sixty-three societies and branches were amended during 1932. Complete Amendments of Rules registered. Complete amendments for the following were registered during the year, viz. :— M.U.l.O.O.F.—Lyttelton District; Otago District; Southland District; Otautau Lodge (Southland District). I.F.S. —The Palmerston United Friendly Societies' Dispensary. W.M.C. —The Wellington Working-men's Club and Literary Institute; Club Garibaldi. Partial Amendments of Rules registered. Partial amendments for the following were registered during the year, viz. :— M.U.1.0.0.F.— New Zealand Branch (2) ; Amberley Lodge (Ashley District) ; Nelson District; Clive Lodge, Forest Home Lodge, and Te Reinga Lodge (Hawke's Bay District); Auckland District (2) and Good Intent Lodge (Auckland District) ; Motueka District; United Westland District; North Canterbury District (2) and City of Christchurch Lodge (North Canterbury District) ; Wairewa Lodge and Kaia Toa Lodge (Lyttelton District); Timaru Lodge (South Canterbury District); Shamrock Rose and Thistle Lodge, United Gore Lodge, Star of the West Lodge, Balfour Lodge, and Dipton Lodge (Southland District).
