Mortality. A statement of the average mortality experienced during the years 1926-30 is given below, but it takes no account of age incidence : —

Sick and Funeral Funds. The contributions and entrance fees paid to Sick and Funeral Funds in 1930 amounted to £193,632. Divided by the mean number of members the average for 1930 was £1 16s. 6d.j as against £1 16s. lOd. for 1929. The interest and rent received by the lodges and central bodies amounted to £182,156 in 1930, equal to £1 14s. 4d. per member, as against £1 15s. 6d. for 1929. The amount of sickness benefit paid was £140,247 in 1930, equal to £6 19s. Id. per member sick, and £1 6s. sd. per member, as against £6 10s. Id. and £1 6s. 6d. respectively for 1929. Viewing the amount paid in relation to the weeks of sickness, the average benefit per week is found to be 13s. 2d. in 1930, as against 12s. lid. for 1929. The funeral benefit paid amounted to £37,755 in 1930, equal to 7s. Id. per member, as compared with 7s. 4d. for 1929. The total worth of the Sick and Funeral Funds of 906 lodges at the beginning of 1930 was £3,337,656, and at the end of the year £3,496,609. The balance of gain for the year was £158,953, or £1 9s. lid. per member, in 1930, as compared with £123,525, or £1 45., in 1929. Investment of Funds. The net income from investments credited to the Sick and Funeral Funds for 1930 amounted to £182,156, the average rate being £5 9s. 6d. per cent., as against £5 14s. lid. in 1929.
