Praying for inquiry into the withholding at Auckland of a passport issued to him in the year 1916 at Sydney, New South Wales. No. 176.—Petition of John Pallensen and 418 Others, of Hawke's Bay. Praying for inquiry into the circumstances under which the approval of the Minister of Public Works was granted to a certain scheme for flood-prevention in Hawke's Bay. I am directed to report that, as the subject-matter of this petition is dealt with in a local Bill at present before the House, the Committee recommends that the petition be referred to the Local Bills Committee. 11th September, 1929.

No. 131. —Petition of William Herbert Sly, of Papatoetoe. Praying for a compassionate allowance owing to alleged hardship caused by the passing of the Mortgages Extension Act. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 2nd October, 1929.

No. 71.—Petition of John J. Meikle, of Auckland. Praying that certain recommendations of the Public Petitions M to Z Committee be given effect to. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration, with the suggestion that it should consider granting the petitioner a suitable annuity of not less than £4 per week. 2nd October, 1929.
