If the next year of life is included, the deaths from birth to two years of age are 51-44 per cent, of the total deaths. Of these 34-34 per cent, of the total deaths are accounted for in the period from six months to two years. This is discussed more fully under " Child Welfare." The two graphs (Figs. 6 and 7) given herewith show the population and the births and deaths for the period 1906-1924. In the graph showing population the 1917 census has been rejected, for reasons given in last annual report, and the population estimated from the previous census of 1911. In the graph showing births, the official estimate of deaths due to influenza in 1918, based on the census of 1917, has also been rejected. The question of the population and the death-roll at that time was discussed in last year's report.
