PUPILS LEAVING PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN 1921 HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF FOURTEEN YEARS AND NOT HAVING PASSED STANDARD IV (RETURN SHOWING NUMBER OF).

Return to- an Order of the House of Representatives dated 18th July, 1922. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing the number' of State children over fourteen yoars of age who have not passed the Fourth Standard of education and who are out working for private firms." —(Mr. Howard.)

Return of the Number of Pupils leaving the Public Schools in 1921 having reached the Age of Fourteen and not having passed Standard IV. The number of pupils is estimated at 550. It is not possible to say how many of these are working for private firms, but it is presumed that most of them are in employment. A. Bell, 11th August, 1922. Secretary for Education.
