ORDER OF REFERENCE. Extract from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Friday, the 20th Day of July, 1917. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of twelve members, to consider all matters pertaining to agricultural and pastoral industries, stock, and commerce ; with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee which may be appointed by the Legislative Council, and to agree to a joint or separate report j the Committee to have power to call for persons, papers, and records ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Anstey, Hon. Mr. Buddo, Mr. Buick, Mr. Dickie, Mr. W. H. Fiold, Mr. Forbes, Mr. Hunter, Right Hon. Mr. Massey, Mr. Sykes, Mr. Talbot, Mr. Wilkinson, and the mover."—(Hon. Mr. Mac Donald.)

EEPOETS. No. 274.—Petition of Donald Kerb, of Wellington. Prating for compensation for loss of office as Stock Inspector. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 27th September, 1917. No. 416.—Petition of Walter Strang and 17 Others, of Palmerston North. Praying that the proposed legislation suggested by the Palmerston North Borough Council in reference to boiling-down works be not introduced. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion, as the subject-matter of this petition is now before the Supreme Court, the Government be recommended not to introduce legislation dealing with the question until the decision of the Court has been given. 4th October, 1917. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural, Pastoral, Stock, and Commerce Committee desires to place on record its great appreciation of the ability, tact, and courtesy with which the Chairman, Mr. G. Hunter, has conducted the business of the Committee throughout the past session. 18th October, 1917. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural, Pastoral, Stock, and Commerce Committee has great pleasure in recording the uniform courtesy and attention of the Clerk, Mr. F. E. Tomlinson, to the business of the Committee during the session, and that this resolution be reported to the House. 18th October, 1917. Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Committee held four meetings during the session. The Committee denlc with two petitions, which were referred to the Government for consideration. 18th October, 1917.
