FRIENDLY SOCIETIES AND TRADE-UNIONS: THIRTY-EIGHTH ANNUAL REPORT BY THE REGISTRAR OF FRIENDLY SOCIETIES, FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31st DECEMBER, 1914.

Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly pursuant to the Friendly Societies Act, 1909, Section 9, and the Trade-unions Act, 1908, Section 16.

OPERATIONS OF NEW ZEALAND SOCIETIES. Registrations. There were registered during the past year 39 new societies and branches, distributed among the various orders as follows : M.U.1.0.0.F., 3'lodges; 1.0.0.F., 12 lodges ; A.0.F., 2 courts ; U.A.0.D., I lodge; 1.0.R., 1 tent; H.A.C.8.5., 1.5 branches; P.A.F.S.A., 1 lodge; isolated friendly societies, 3; specially authorized societies, 1. The following registrations were cancelled : — By dissolution : A.0.5., Sanctuary Epuni. By request: A.0.F., Courts Excelsior and West End (Auckland District); U.A.0.D., Triumph and Okotuku Lodges (Grand Lodge of the North Island of New Zealand). The following amalgamation was registered : Waingongoro with Wai Aroha Tent (N.Z. Central District 1.0.R.). Court Pride of Dunedin seceded from United Otago District A.O.F. The following change of name was registered: " N.Z. Collieries, Railway, and Oil Syndicate Employees' Benefit Society," to " Kaitangata Employees' Benefit Society." The position of the orders in respect of registration is shown by the following summary as at the beginning and end of 1914 : —
