PETITIONERS pray for a sum of £200 to finish the road from Whangaripo creamery to Wellsford Station. 1 am directed to report that the petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 4th November, 1909. Petitioners pray for compensation for damage by fire alleged to have been caused by a survey party under the charge of a District Engineer in the employ of the Public Works Department, whereby a kauri bush was destroyed. I am directed to report that in the opinion of this Committee the Crown Suits Act should be waived with a view of the petitioners being afforded the opportunity of testing the justice of their claim. 10th November, 1909.
