No. 63. —Petition of E. G. Phillips and 29 Others, of Whangaripo, Auckland District. PETITIONERS pray for a sum of £200 to finish the road from Whangaripo creamery to Wellsford Station. 1 am directed to report that the petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 4th November, 1909. Petitioners pray that the Wairarapa Hospital District be constituted into a separate hospital and charitable aid district. 1 am directed to report that, the prayer of the petition being already embodied in the Bill now before the House—namely, " The Hospital and Charitable Institutions Bill, 1909 " —the matter be referred to the Government. 4th November, 1909. Petitioner prays for compensation for loss of her son, William Hay Rennie, who was murdered at Papakaio. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make on this petition. 4th November, 1909. No. (Hi, Session ll.—Petition of Mrs. Margaret Stewart and Others, of Kaiwaka, Auckland. Petitioners pray for compensation for damage by fire alleged to have been caused by a survey party under the charge of a District Engineer in the employ of the Public Works Department, whereby a kauri bush was destroyed. I am directed to report that in the opinion of this Committee the Crown Suits Act should be waived with a view of the petitioners being afforded the opportunity of testing the justice of their claim. 10th November, 1909. PETITIONERS pray for inquiry into and redress for certain grievances in connection with the drainage of the Taieri Plain.
