There are 1,856 more male European pensioners than female, and of the Maori pensioners the females exceed the males by 1. The age which claims the greatest number of pensioners is 74, 1,114 European pensioners being of that age. Ages 73 and 75 follow next with 1,006 each. There are 80 European pensioners of the age of 90 and over, of which number 8 are 96 and over, and 2 have topped the century. Of the Maori pensioners, 9 are stated to be 90 and over.
