Nos. 378 and 662.—Petitions of J. E. Bone and 20,670 Others, Otago Harbour Board; and A. S. Allan and 430 Others, Otago Harbour Board. Petitioned is pray that the Board be paid full compensation in connection with land taken for railway purposes. I am directed to report that, owing to its being found impossible within the time at the Committee's disposal to take all the evidence and give the petitions full consideration, the Committee has decided to recommend that the consideration of these petitions be deferred until next session. 25th October, 1906. No. 647. —Petition of Oamahu Chamber of Commerce. Petitioners pray for an improved train-service between Oamaru, Ngapara, and Takorahi. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends the petition to the Government for consideration. 27th October, 1906. No. 175. —Petition of Thomas Carmichael, Wellington. Petitioner prays for compensation. I am directed to report that the Committee, having been informed that the petitioner has withdrawn his petition, has no recommendation to make. 27th October, 1906. No. 444. —Petition of Thomas Patterson. Petitioner prays for an additional grant of money to that already given, as recommended by a previous Committee. Petitioner prays for some monetary relief for loss of position in the service. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 27th October, 1906. No. 670.—Petition of Thomas Harlet, Petone. Petitioner pra3's that interest be allowed him on account of purchase of land by (he Government. I am directed to report that this Committee is of opinion that a recommendation be made to the Government to allow the petitioner the payment of interest for one year at 6 per cent, on £470. 27th October, 1906. No. 646.—Petition of the Oamaru Chamber of Commerce. Petitioners pray for an improved train-service between Oamaru and North Otago. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition be referred to the Government for consideration. 27th October, 1906. No. 643.—Petition of M. H. Laird, Puketutu. Petitioner prays that the railway-line lietween Puketutu and Taumarunui be fenced in. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that this petition be referred to the Government for consideration. 27th October, 1906.
