No. 140, Session ll.—Petition of J. Meffen and 88 Others, of Fairburn. Petitioners pray for a grant to improve the Flatbush portion of the Main North Road. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 20th September, 1906. No. 145, Session ll.—Petition of P. O'Dwyer and 87 Others, of Paemako. Petitioners pray for the Government to proceed with the metalling of the main road between Te Kuiti and Mahoenui at earliest possible date. I am directed to report that the opinion of the Committee is that the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 20th September, 1906. No. 169, Session ll.—Petition of Borough Council of Onehunga. Petitioners pray for an extension of wharfage accommodation at Onehunga. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that there is not sufficient accommodation at the Onehuuga Wharf for the shipping that regularly visits the port, and recommends the Government to have a comprehensive report made on the wharfage accommodation at Onehunga, and that any deficiency of same should be provided for as soon as possible. 25th September, 1906. Petitioners pray for a railway-line to connect Waiuku, Mauku, and Patumahoe with the Main Trunk line. 1 am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 25th September, 1906. Petitioners pray for the validation of their land leases, in order to secure the value of the improvements made thereon by the petitioners. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 25th September, 1906. No. 312, Session ll.—Petition of F. W. Kirk and 138 Others, of Opotiki. Petitioners pray for the construction of a line of railway between Gisborne and Rotorua, via Opotiki and Whakataue. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 28th September, 1906. No. 205, Session ll.—Petition of Jv. C. McGaveston and 71 Others, of Ngatimoti. Petitioners pray for the erection of a footbridge over the Motueka River. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 28th September, 1906. No. 209, Session ll.—Petition of 11. S. Williams and 456 Others, of Russell. Petitioners pray for a railway between Hukerenui and Kawakawa. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make in respect to the prayer of this petition, as the matter is already being dealt with by the Government. 28th September, 1906.
