I beg to transmit herewith copy of contract notes for the sale of £15,000 3-|-per-cent. stock, in continuation of that enclosed with my letter (No. 1246) of the 20th October last. The proceeds (£23,874 195.) of this sale will be paid into the Public Account on the 15th instant. The amount of unsold 3J-per-cent. stock is thus reduced to £257,838 17s. 7d. Eeferring to the honourable Minister's letter (Treasury, No. 42), of the 6th September last, I beg to state that, by the mail-box which will be shipped by the s.s. " Bimutaka" next week, the £28,500 debentures of the Lyttelton and Christchurch Bailway Loan, which have been duly cancelled in accordance with the honourable Minister's intructions, will be forwarded to the Treasury. I attach copy of the Audit Officer's certificate giving the number of the debentures. W. B. Perceval.
