8. The number of persons who attended courses of lectures in the year 1888 was 160—namely, 87 male and 73 female. Of these, 3 are graduates, 2 male and 1 female; 48 are undergraduates, 32 male and 16 female; and the non-matriculated students are 109—viz., 53 male and 56 female. The undergraduates whose names are on the College books of the year, from attendance at lectures or examinations in the course of the past two years, are 89—viz., 64 male and 25 female. 9. The degree of M.A. in the University of New Zealand, with honours of the first class, was awarded in 1888 to one student of this College—Mr. J. M. French —and the degree of B.A. to two — Messrs. Sinclair Gillies and R. M. Ryburn. 10. An audited statement of the receipts and expenditure for the year 1888 has been forwarded. I have, &c, The Hon. the Minister of Education. G.
