EDUCATION: EXISTING ENDOWMENTS FOR SECONDARY AND UNIVERSITY EDUCATION IN THE COLONY.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated 20th August, 1884. Ordered, " That there be laid upon the table a return of all existing endowments for secondary and university education in the colony, specifying tho locality of each block of land, its acreage, its estimated value, and its present rental after tho deduction of public burdens ; also a statement of tho sums of money arising from the sale of any of these land endowments disposed of under special Acts of the Legislature, with the particulars of their investment and the interest paid thereon, together with the name of the governing bodies and the profits received by each body sinoe tho abolition of provinces." — (Mr. Seddon.)
