SINKING FUNDS.

REPORT AND ACCOUNTS OF THE COMMISSIONERS OF THE PUBLIC DEBTS SINKING FUNDS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30th JUNE, 1879.

Laid before both Houses of the General Assembly in compliance with the 6th Section of " The Public Debts Sinking Funds Act, 1868."

I have the honor to transmit to you, to lay before Parliament, the report of the Commissioners of the Public Debts Sinking Funds, and accompanying accounts, for the year ended 30th June, 1879. EEPORT. Government Buildings, Wellington, Ist October, 1879. The Commissioners of the Public Debts Sinking Punds have the honor to lay before Parliament their report and accounts for the year ended 30th June, 1879. It will be seen that, after redeeming the whole of the debentures, amounting to £58,000, issued under "The "Wellington Debts Act Amendment Act, 1876," there remained a surplus of £4,711 18s. 2d., which the Commissioners paid over to the Public Accouut, thus closing the Sinking Fund Account of this loan. It will also be seen, with regard to the moneys received under " The North Otago District Public Works Loan Act, 1872," that, after providing for interest payable during the year, the Commissioners were able to redeem and cancel debentures to the amouut of £13,000, leaving an outstanding balance of £30,900. There are no other matters calling for special remark, and the accounts will afford full information as to the state of the several sinking funds.
