In compliance with the request contained in your circular No. 70-1,680, of the 6th ultimo, I have the honor to forward herewith a return showing the amount of overdraft by the Province of Nelson on the 3rd September 1869, the 31st December 1869, 31st March 1870, and the 30th June 1870, respectively. Enclosure in No. 8. Return relating to Overdraft by the Province of Nelson. On the 3rd September, 1869. the overdraft amounted to £7,948 13s. sd. „ 31st December, 1869, „ „ £10,320 4s. No. 9. His Honor W. Wood to the Hon. W. Gisborne. Sir,— Wellington, 30th August, 1870. In reply to your circular of the 6th July last, asking for a statement of the Southland Government overdraft, from the 3rd September, 1869, to the 30th June, 1870, I have the honor to state that on the 3rd September, 1869, the overdraft was £5,361 12s. 2d., and on the 30th June, 1870, £4,407 2s. 9d.
