MORRINSVILLE VALUES An average entry of fat cows was in keen demand with values higher, while a smaller yarding of boner and store cows sold readily at the Morrinsville stock sale yesterday. A full yarding of breeding sows came forward. Competition for stores and fat pigs was very keen but sows were very hard to quit. Quotations;—Cattle: Fat Shorthorn cows, to £ll 15s; heavy fat young Jersey cows and heifers, £9 2s 6d to £lO 7s «d; lighter. £7 10s to £8 10s; boner cows, £4 to £6 15s: two-year empty Jersey heifers, £5 to £5 17s 6d. Dairy cattle: Choice springing heifers, £l6 10s to £l7 ss: choice heifers, in milk, £ls to £l7; good quality springing heifers, £l3 to £ls; good quality heifers, in milk, £ll to £l2 10s; medium springing heifers, £ll to £l2 10s; small, £9 to £lO 10s; springing cows, £lO to £l2 ss; cows in milk, £lO to £ll 10s. Pigs: £3 13s to £4 7s; baconers, £4 10s to £5 10s; buttermilk pigs and large stores, £3 to £4 8s; smaller stores. £2 8s to £2 15s; slips. 35s to £2 4s; weaners, 26s to 34s 6d; sows in farrow, £4 5s to £6 10s; sows with litters, £5 5s to £7 15s. The Queen Elizabeth will dock at Southampton next Monday. She has travelled 450,000 miles and carried more than 685,000 soldiers during the war.
