PETROL ALLOWANCE

INCREASE CONSIDERED LIKELY WELLINGTON, Thursday Motorists throughout New Zealand have good grounds for doubly celebrating the news of world peace for there is a distinct possibility of obtaining a further increase in the petrol ration. The Minister of Supply, Mr Sullivan, said yesterday that now that the war was over it was hoped that further supplies of petrol would be available for civilian use. The New Zealand Government was taking up the matter at once with the British authorities. Should any immediate measure of success be secured the small licenses recently revoked would be restored. Under the recent announcement licenses for four gallons and under were cancelled.
