RESTRICTIONS RESTORED One aspect of the peace celebrations in Hamilton was the town’s return almost to its former status as one of the best-lighted towns in New Zealand. ‘The community lighting beneath shop verandahs was switched on, and a number of buildings assumed a bright aspect when the coloured display illumination was brought into use for the first time for many months. The need for conservation of power continues, however. The borough electrical engineer, Mr I. Webster, f today that the restrictions were lifted only for the two days of the celebrations and were now in force again. Only essential lighting was permissible.
