MEETING NOTICE LEE D.C.M. LEE D.C.M. LEE D.C.M. Speaks Tonight at ST. GEORGE’S HALL FRANKTON 8 p.nu and— Tomorrow FRIDAY Tomorrow GARDEN PLACE (In vacant section adjoining) 7.30 p.m. At Knox Church Hall, full to overflowing again, when opponent demanded show of hands on confidence motion, the MOTION OF CONFIDENCE was carried by OVERWHELMING MAJORITY. There is a blockade against JOHN A. LEE, D.C.M., in tne Frankton area. Lee must not be allowed to speak in Frankton. The Town Hall is not available, Glover’s Hall is not available. Frankton must be insulated against the political truth. But John A. Lee will be there whoever tries to keep him away. In the history of New Zealand politics has any politician ever had to stand up against the barrage of slander and abuse with which John A. Lee, D.C.M. has been pursued. He fought for democracy and was decorated with a D.C.M. Yet at last election a seditionist of this war, a person who served a sentence for refusing to fight Hitler was used to circulate a “Lee Apes Hitler” leaflet. Enough to make the stomach turn is it not? Mr Douglas Cresswell, Democratic Labour candidate for Timaru at the last election, said during a speech, “I thought General Sir Alexander Russell, the Freyberg of the last war, was a Tory, but he evidently thinks a lot of Jack Lee! He wrote me a letter in which he said of Jack Lee—“ You have joined the only honest politician,” a splendid tribute to the Lee who will be slandered. With John A. Lee elected to represent Hamilton the electors will have a representative whose voice will command respect throughout New Zealand. Labour will still be the Government. The Nationalists will still be the Opposition, but Hamilton will have a voice. * Correspondence to be addressed: BOX 52, HAMILTON.
