New Substance Developed A new substance, developed in research laboratories at Rugby, England, is considered to have great commercial possibilities. This sub- ! stance, which is made from sand, is a form of putty and so resilient that it can be made to bounce like a ! piece of rubber, say 3 the London Daily Mirror. Its immediate uses include fittings for windows subject : to vibration and strain but, says the j director of research at the laboratories, “its real value is in the disi coveries one may make from it. As
a rule you do not get extreme plasticity and extreme resilience in the same material. It may lead us to other substances with equally strange properties.’"
