YEAR OF PROGRESS

HAMILTON E. KINDERGARTEN The annual meeting of the Hamilton East Kindergarten Board was held recently. The report and balance sheet showed that satisfactory progress had been made during the year, and that a small credit balance was available for the commencement of the new term. Attendances had been good on the whole, but several vacancies would be available for new pupils for the next term. In view of the remarkable progress of the kindergarten movement in Auckland and other centres, the question of the establishment of a Free Kindergarten Association in the Waikato was fully discussed. Members, however, were of the opinion that the time was inopportune to implement a policy in this respect at the moment, and that when the board considered that the time was ripe, the board should approach the Mayor of Hamilton with a view to some form of municipal action being taken. The election of officers resulted in the following being elected to form the board for the ensuing year: Chairman, Mr H. H. K. Purdie; secretary, F. Taylor; Mesdames L. St. George, McNicoll. K. P. Blair, F. Taylor, C. H. D. McLeod, P. L. Hunter and Messrs C. A. Beaufort and A. McLaren. Mr P. L. Hunter was again appointed hon. yrcditor.
