LITTLE JAPANESE OPPOSITION (Received Oct. 2, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 1 A hill in the Mayu range southeast of Maungdaw was captured by men from a home counties regiment, states a South-east Asia communique. Japanese opposition . was slight.. On the Tiddim road contact has been regained with the enemy near Chocolate Staircase in a long series of hairpin bends by which the road climbs 3000 feet towards Tiddim.
| In northern Burma British troops j continued patrol activity. Chinese ‘troops patrolled actively south of Kazu. The weather curtailed air operations.
