RAILWAY YARDS DAMAGED (Received Sept. 22, 1 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 21 The Trier railway yards, tightly packed with enemy troops and supplies awaiting despatch to the central sector, were heavily bombed late yesterday afternoon by six formations of French-based Marauders. Damaging hits were scored and large explosions in the target area were reported. Fortresses and Liberators in medium strength today bombed a synthetic oil plant at Ludwigshafen, rail marshalling yards at Mainz and Coblenz and other targets in western } Germany. The bombing was visual ; at Mainz, both visual and by means i of instruments at Coblenz and by ! instruments at Ludwigshafen. Forces of Thunderbolts and Mustangs escorted the bombers and supported Allied aircraft continuing the air- , borne invasion of Holland.
