COUNTY REFUSAL BOARD TAKES ACTION (By Teiec.'gph.— Press Association) WHANGAREI, Friday On the casting vote of the chairman the Mangonnl Hospital Board decided to invoke Section 51 of the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926, by requesting the Min Liter of Finance to divert funds from the Mangonui County Council sufficient to cover the contributions to hospital maintenance due from the council. This action was rendered necessary by the council's refusal to include in the general rates struck this year the hospital board’s levy on the county of £4750, of which two instalment* of £949 each were to haVe been paid in July and September. The procedure which the hospital board has adopted was set out by the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, in a letter to the county council received at its meeting the previous day. Now working on an overdraft of £2OOO, the hospital board has applied to its bankers for an overdraft of £6OOO for the quarter ending December.
