PRODUCTION INCREASE

SPRING DAIRY FIGURES AUCKLAND, Friday The butter output was showing an increase of around 28 per cent and cheese approximately 20 per cent, said Mr E. C. Wood, chief Government dairy produce grader, at the annual spring conference of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Associar tion at the King’s Wharf grading stores yesterday. The quality of butter sent to the stores was very satisfactory, for this period of the year, said Mr Wood, but some difficulties had been experienced with cheese starters. Following an examination of consignments of butter and cheese a grading competition was held for the managers, a good standard being shown. The results of the competition were as follows: Butter.—Messrs H. A. Collier (New Zealand Dairy Co., Ngatea), and P. S. Halligan (Hokianga), 98V2 points, equal, 1; Messrs H. Jones (Whangarei), J. B.
