BOMBED AND STRAFED
RAIDS ON ENEMY SHIPPING (Received Sept. 19, noon) LONDON, Sept. 18 Royal Air Force Mosquitoes made further attacks on German sea communications between the Dutch islands on Sunday night, bombing and strafing 15 barges and a few small coastal vessels, states the Air Ministry. Direct assistance to troops fighting their way into Boulogne after a successful heavy bomber assault was given by Typhoons. A successful rocket attack was made on three lock gates of the Hansweert canal, in the Dutch islands, an important gateway for enemy escape traffic. A formation led by Group-Captain D. J. Scott, of New Zealand, on a special mission, cannon-strafcd Calais flak positions.
