MINISTER OF MINES
DEPUTATIONS AT HUNTLY The Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Mines, was in Hamilton on Saturday afternoon en route to Huntly, where, in company with Mr R. Coulter, M.P. for Raglan, he inspected the opencast coal quarries at Kimihia, Glen Afton and Glen Massey. Afterwards the Minister received several deputations, including the executive of the Huntly branch of the Returned Services Association, who sought to enlist his interest in obtaining a social hall. During the discussion reference was made to the possibility of obtaining one of’ the social halls seldom used in another part of the district -and to transport it to Huntly. The Minister gave the deputation a sympathetic hearing and promised to have investigation made in the direction indicated.
