WOMEN’S DIVISION

ANNUAL MEETING HELD The past year has been an exoptionally successful one from every Oint of view,-“ said Mrs A. J. Clemmts, president of the Hamilton planch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, in her report vvhich was presented at the annual meeting held in the Y.M.C.A. lounge esterday. The principal activity of the year was the knitting of comforts for the Merchant Seamen and during this period 325 garments had been sent away for men overseas. These garments have been knitted from home-spun and milled wools. Up to the present time the division has already despatched 1022 garments. The spinning circle has been doing very good work and the sterling efforts of the spinners has been responsible for the completion of 151 garments. Unfortunately through the lack of a housekeeper the housekeeping project has had to stand in abeyance although there had been many calls of help throughout the year The hospital visits have continued and good work has been done by those responsible for the continuation of this branch of the Division’s duties. The Division has contributed nearly £l4O to the rest homes throughout New Zealand and the thanks of the Dominion executive has been conveyed to the branch. Members have also helped in the Health Stamp campaign and the Patriotic Shop, and a very satisfactory year’s work has been completed. The balance-sheet showed a very satisfactory financial report and it was decided to take the Patriotic Shop on Wednesday, April 26, The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs A. J.
