TOTAL OF 39.950 DEMOBILISED
According to figures made available by the Minister of Rehabilitation. the Hon. C. F. Skinner, the number of men and women demobilised from the armed forces as at February 29 totalled 39,950. Of this number 20,735 were returned servicemen and 19,215 home service personnel. Authorisations to the end of February were as follows: Purchase of farms, 218 applications, £649,759; purchase or erection of houses* 741 applications. £759,505; purchase of tools of trade. 133 applications, £3645; purchase of businesses. 286 applications, £104.528: purchase of furniture, 1760 applications, £157505; t0ta1,*£1,674,942.
