ANXIETY IN THE BALKANS | LONDON, Jan. 13 The Prime Minister of Rumania, , Antonescu, has ordered the Bess- [ arabian authorities to keep the roads to the interior clear of refugees. ■ Every Rumanian railway is under German control and German technir cal troops, who have been infiltrat- ’ ing into the country for several . weeks, are being rushed to the froni tier. | Antonescu’s military rule under German direction has already silenced the press, thus increasing the . anxiety of the people, who are being told nothing of the retreat in Russia. Owing to Allied air attacks, the ; Bulgarian Government has ordered the entire civilian population of Sofia to evacuate to the provinces, says the Istanbul correspondent of the Daily ■ Telegraph. Other places where an early i evacution is likely include the Black • Sea ports of Varna and Burgas and ; towns on the railway lines linking Bulgaria and Yugoslavia.
