43 YEARS’ SERVICE

CHIEF POSTMASTER MR A M. ROSIE TO RETIRE Chief Postmaster at Hamilton for three years, Mr A. M. Rosie will retire on superannuation on March 31. During the 43 years he has spent in the service Mr Rosie has been stationed in various parts of the Dominion and his experiences have been many and varied. During his“ time in Hamilton he has taken an interest in the welfare of the town generally. He is a member of the Hamilton Rotary Club, the Orphans’ Club and the Chamber of Commerce, and is actively connected with St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Mr Rosie will be succeeded by Mr J. P. Hanratty, who has been deputy chief postmaster in Hamilton for the last 18 months. Mr Rosie joined the service in Oamaru in 1900. He was transferred to the accountant’s branch of the General Post. Office. Wellington and filled various positions there for several years. He held the position of stores auditor and was later chief clerk in Auckland. Later he was principal of the stores division of the General Post Office. In May, 1939 he was appointed deputy chief postmaster. Auckland. Mr Hosie’s term as chief postmaster in Hamilton began in April. 1941, shortly after the opening of the present building. Before coming to Hamilton Mr Hanratty served in Auckland and Wellington, as well as being stationed for a time in the South Island.
