Leslie, president of the New Zealand Veterinary Association, and chief veterinary surgeon to the Taranaki Federation of Dairy Companies. who is visiting the Waikato. Mr Leslie mentioned that in Taranaki the dairy companies paid the veterinarians on a butterfat basis, thus givir g every farmer the opportunity to use the service. It made for greater stabilisation compared with the system in operation in the Waikato. Where members joined up for one year and could then withdraw, the Taranaki system gave the veterinarians a five years’ contract. A system of veterinary service operated through the dairy companies would give a complete coverage to everybody and would also be the cheapest.
