CANCER TREATMENT
NEW SOUTH WALES PLANS (Received Jan. 13, 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 13 The formation of a New South Wales Cancer Institute is recom- : mended by the English cancer experts, Drs. Ralston and Edith Paterson. Dr. Paterson and his wife were in- | vited to visit New South Wales to advise the State Government on *.he j establishment of a Cancer Institute, ior which £IOO.OOO has already been voted. Their report, which was handed 10 the State Premier, Mr McKeli, estimates that the capital cost of the institute would not exceed £250,000. It might be con- ! siderably less if the co-oreration of the Sydney hospitals were secured in the transfer of their plant and and radium. The initial annual expenditure is estimated at £50,000 and the report* suggests that this amount is already being inefficienlty spent every year on cancer treatment in New South Wales. The report recommends the centralisation of all cancer treatment.
