FRENCH APPOINTMENT
COMMISSIONER IN ALGERIA (Received Sept. 29, 11.30 a.m.) ALGIERS, Sept. 28 General Paul Legentilhomme has been appointed Commissioner of National Defence. He was formerly Commissioner of War to General de Gaulle’s Free French Committee in London. Later he became French High Commissioner in the Indian Ocean zone. The appointment is regarded as a sign of the National Committee’s determination not to allow General Giraud to over-ride its powers.
