WOMEN’S LAND SERVICE
WAIKATO CLUB INAUGURATED RECRUITING CAMPAIGN To mark the inauguration of the Women’s Land Service Club, Waikato Area, a luncheon was held in the Hamilton Hotel today when 52 girls from Hamilton and surrounding districts were present. The executive of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary in Hamilton were the hostesses and Miss M. Malempre, of Wellington, Dominion Secretary of the Women’s Land Service, was also present. Miss Malempre in proposing the toast of the service spoke of the sterling work being done by the girls, and mentioned the fine type of girl that was offering. Amusement was caused by the place cards, which were hand-painted farm scenes designed by two Hamilton High School girls.
A campaign for further recruits will commence throughout the Dominion on October 4 and to further this Messrs Hooker and Kingston, Limited, are displaying in their shop windows the full equipment for the girls, the provision of which has been granted priority.
