SOCIAL NOTES
Mrs Roberts, Gisborne, is visiting Hamilton where she is the guest of her mother, Mrs A. A. Woodward.
Mrs D. McGregor, Whangarei, was a week-end visitor to Hamilton. Mrs D. Moore, Auckland, was in Hamilton during the week-end. Mrs C. Campbell, Dunedin, has been spending a few days in Hamilton.
Mrs Bauld and Mrs W. Vernon, Wanganui, are visitors to Hamilton as the guests of Mrs I. M. Walker. Mrs A. Free, Palmerston North, has been visiting Hamilton. Miss Ursula Bray, Auckland, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs G. Bray, Hamilton, returned home during the week-end.
The day was overcast and conditions heavy for the second round of the Horton Cup which was played on the St. Andrews links last Wednesday. Most of the matches were keenly contested, the closest being that between Mrs Knight and Mrs Daldy which finished in favour of the former 1 up on the 20th green. The other results were: Mrs Wake beat Mrs Davison 2 up and 1, Mrs Isdale beat Mrs Luckie 2 up and 1, Mrs Signal beat Mrs Sole 6 up and 5, Mrs Thomas beat Mrs Cramp 3 up and 2, Mrs Joy beat Mrs Rawlings 4 up and 2, Mrs Yendell beat Mrs Harkness 3 up and 2. The bogey scramble which was played by the “rest” resulted in a win for Mrs J. Gamble. In the first round of the Saturday match-play competition four very close matches have been played. The following are the results: Mrs Sills beat Miss Farrell 1 up, Mrs Christie beat Miss Fuller 1 up, Miss Madeley beat Miss Campbell 1 up, and Miss K. Wilson beat Miss Newell 1 up.
