LOCAL OPTION
CHANGE NOT WANTED NO-LICENSE AREAS Polls were taken in 12 no-license areas throughout the Dominion on Saturday to ascertain whether restoration of liquor licenses was desired. A majority of three-fifths was required, but in no electorate was the requisite number of votes obtained to effect a change, although the position at Invercargill was close.
The return from Masterton, Wellington East, Wellington South, Wellington Suburbs, Qamaru, Clutha and Mataura are not to hand, the remaining districts voted as follows:
