CONTINUANCE FAVOURED

MAJORITY OF 288,205 The 1943 Licensing Poll again resulted in a substantial majority for Continuance of the present licensing system. The following table shows the aggregate return for the Dominion compared with the returns of previous years: —

The figures for Saturday’s poll were as follows: Continuance 416,656 State Control 102,866 Prohibition 231,317 Majority against prohibition 288,205 Votes recorded by the services, as well as ibsentee votes, have yet to be added. The returns from the licensing districts when counting ceased at midnight on Saturday were as follows: —
