BEEF VALUES FIRM The auctioneers report as follows on the Frankton stock sale yesterday:— Sheep: A heavy yarding of sheep came forward comprising chiefly fat ewes and wethers which sold at prices slightly easier than recent rates. Good freezing and fat hoggets were in demand while in the store sheep section several pens of well-grown and well-woolled hoggets were keenly sought after, competition being keen throughout. Cattle: A larger entry of fat cattle was penned when values for both prime ox beef and prime cow and heifer beef remained firm at last week's quotations. Values for second quality beef were slightly easier. A large entry of boner cattle also- came forward and values in this section again remained steady. A medium yarding of fat calves met with steady competition values remaining firm. The entry of store cattle attracted a good bench of buyers and a total clearance was effected at prices slightly in advance of recent quotations. Pigs: A medium yarding of fat pigs and a light entry of stores and weaners came forward, prices for all classes remaining firm at last week’s quotations.
