NAPLES BOMBED

ROYAL ARSENAL DAMAGED (Received July 17, 11,30 a.m.) LONDON, July 16 The bombardment of Naples was begun by Wellingtons at night and was continued by four waves of Fortresses in daylight, says a North African correspondent. The aerodromes at Ponigliano and the Capo di Chine railway yards, docks and industrial areas' were blasted. Hits were scored on the Royal Arsenal, stadium, railwayworks and torpedo factory. Tne damage at the arsenal was severe. The whole of the Naples area suffered heavy damage. Of 23 enemy aircraft which attacked the bombers four were destroyed.
