JERSEY BULL SALE
WAIKATO COMBINED BREEDERS DEMAND FOR YEARLINGS The Waikato combined breeders’ 27th annual bull sale, which is being held at Claudelands this week, was well attended on the first day today. Although the sale opened slowly and aged bulls were not sought, xx 7 ell-groxx 7 n yearlings attracted better demand. Smaller yearlings met less keen demand. Top price among the morning sales was paid for Mr B. H. Moreland's (Cambridge) Beechlands Ashley Lad, which was sold to Mr R. Hitchen, of Waitoa, for 54 gns. Other early sales were:—Mr Moreland’s Beechlands Royal Ronald, , yearling, 48 gns, Mr G. Bruce, Karapiro; Mrs T. M. Hastie’s (Mercer) Koheroa Silver Fox, yearling, 30 gns, Mr S. Stewart, Te Puke; Mr J. P. Flynn’s (Hillcrest) Dawnleigh Noble Majesty, 3-year-old, 30 gns, Mr W. Burke, Matangi. The quality of the offerings in the afternoon improved somewhat and prices were higher. Following were the higher-priced lots:— Yearlings.—Mr A. Devine’s (Tamahere) Binky of Tralee, to Mr G. Mills, Ngahinapouri, 50 gns; Mr J. Colson's (Waihou) Brookdell Bounce, to Mr B. Morley, Cambridge, 56 gns; same vednor’s Brookdell Justus, to Mr Hight, Waitoa, 58 gns; same vendor’s Brookdell Delusion, to Mr R. Lazenby, Waharoa. 80 gns; Mr W. Booth's (Waiuku) Velebit Salesman, toMrR. D. Banks, Tamahere, 50 gns; Mr A. E. Bickie's (Te Rapa) Velebit.
