SOCIAL NOTES Mrs H. E. Gaze, Hamilton, is visiting Auckland. Mrs M. C. Gudex, Hamilton, is spending a holiday at Dunedin. Mrs C. Messenger, Auckland, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs S. J. Bennett, Hamilton, has returned home. Miss Joyce McFarland, Auckland, is visiting Hamilton where she is the guest of Mrs H. McFarland. Miss K. Salter, who has been in charge of the Kawhia Dental Clinic, has been transferred to Hamilton. Mrs H. E. Gibbon, Taumarunui, , and Mrs M. K. McKee. Ongarue, are j at the Commercial Hotel. Mrs F. P. Innes, Greymouth, and { Mrs Hall. Gisborne, are at the Hamilton Hotel. The L.G.U. Medal Competition at I the St. Andrews Dinks, which was i postponed last Wednesday on account j of the weather, will be played next Wednesday, using the same draw. The special general meeting of the club is also postponed until next Wednesday. Chinese decorations, pennants and lanterns gave the Toorak Chambers a distinctly Oriental flavour on Saturday night when the Hamilton j Orphans’ Club held its opening and j ladies’ night combined for the 1942 j season. Items by popular artists were enjoyed and the function was one of the most successful yet held by the club.
